about chris mueller
schooling and workI moved to Boulder after I graduated high school in México. I was lucky to be considered a US citizen since I was born in El Paso, Texas. I had no problems finding work while taking English classes as a second language. After a few years of intense English classes and daily oral language practice, I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where I graduated with a double major in American Studies and Ethnic Studies.

Shortly after my graduation I decided to go back to college and get my teaching license. I did my teacher practicum here at Pioneer Elementary in the fall of 2004 and was hired here at Pioneer in January of 2005.
In the fall of 2006 I enrolled in my masters program at CU Boulder in Linguistically Diverse Education. I am proud to say that graduating with my masters’ degree was rewarding and satisfying, even if it was a rigorous program while teaching full time. I enjoy hiking, camping, watching soccer, going out with friends and spending time with my family. For now my wife and I just bought a house in December and I am finding out the challenges and rewards of being a home owner. Right now I enjoy teaching fourth grade and only the future will tell what it holds for me. |
I was born in El Paso, Texas. I was one of 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Although I was born in El Paso, Texas, I was raised in Ciudad Juárez, México. Growing up in a border town made life interesting. Those of us who share that experience know the feeling of not really belonging to a specific place. My mother, having ten children, was obviously a stay at home mom. My dad was a miner and I enjoyed many trips to the country as a young child and a teenager exploring the mines, working in them and helping the family business. I am proud to say that even though my parents didn’t have a formal education beyond an elementary grade level, most of my wisdom comes from my parents. From my parents and my family I learned to work hard, never give up, and always keep hope for your dreams.
